Hercesa Sports Club (HSC) is a sports association dedicated to the promotion of sport and physical activity in the sphere of Corredor del Henares, that develops a comprehensive sports project based on a type of Club that has been and is a model in the sports world.
The three fundamental aims of this project are the following:
1) Strengthening the real integration of handicapped persons through both the sports and physical practice.
2) Promoting the participation through different physical and leisure activities programs aimed at children and young people.
3) Developing a community context between different communities.
This Club has a wide representation for teams in adapted sport for physically handicapped persons (wheelchair basketball), mentally handicapped persons (basketball and five-a-side football) and handicapped persons with cerebral palsy (boccia and athletics: distance and height shot). In the field of conventional sport, the Club focuses its efforts on basketball and rugby and has male and female teams of all categories that participate in Madrid national and regional leagues.
The Clud also takes part in the Scholar´ s Basketball League with 24 teams and 223 children and arranges the introductory sports activity, psychomotor activities and pre-sport “Jugando con Torrete” (“Playing with Torrete”), which is issued to 3 to 6-years old children, where 70 children have take their first steps in the sports world.
Our big family is currently made up of around 800 athletes and 120 persons (sports technical and assistant staff). All of them take part in this Project.
Hercesa Sports Club has achieved 6 seasons since Hercesa bet on this sports and social project.
The Club has suffered an increase in quantity and quality in the progresses, activities and events it carries out and, therefore, in the number of participants and beneficiaries as well. The season 07-08 has just finished with a participation of 134 handicapped athletes, 876 conventional athletes and 120 trainers, assistants and instructors.
In the one hand, this information can give as an idea about the dimensions of our project and the important role the Club develops in the sports world, and on the other hand, this information has helped us to develop a catalogue about sports and the necessary and pertinent integration program.
Few Spanish sports associations have sports projects having the same characteristics and complexity as our Club. That is the reason why the task of the people who works and collaborates with the Club and the support of Hercesa Real Estate is even more praiseworthy.
Hercesa Sports Club has several prospects such as going on increasing, collaborating with educational institutions and public entities, opening to civil society and being consolidated as a model in the sports world.
We would also like all Hercesa staff to take part in this project through the identification and alignment with the values and objectives represented by us.
This success is the result of years and years of training and dedication of the players and instructors, and the support of Hercesa as the main sponsor.Our wheelchair team participates in the highest category: the Liga de División de Honor (Honor Division League).
Our National Basketball Teams in almost every category are between the best ones of the Community of Madrid, taking part in Spain Championships.
Our rugby team has more and more participation and very good scores.
We not only fulfil the sports, educational and integration goals, but we also carry out actions with regard to sports instructors training and retraining. Our organizational capacity has been proved in the development and the carrying out of both basic and high level projects.
All this work and effort has been recognized. A prove of it are the prizes we have received from different institutions and entities in several times.
Our growing and expansion prospects in a rational and sustainable way are potentially huge and its basis is not only the hope, but also the team of persons that collaborate with the project and the commitment of the people who support us.
The challenges and requirements we have before emerging demands encourage us to go on improving.
